WA: Perth man charged with arson over bushfire

PERTH, Dec 29 AAP - Police have charged a man with deliberately lighting fires in Perth's
Middle Swan area.

Police allege the 18-year-old man, from Scarborough in Perth's west, attempted to light
a fire in bush at the Swan District Hospital, in the eastern suburb of Midland.

Police, including members of the Arson Squad, were tipped off by a member of the public
and went to the hospital where the man was arrested.

He has been charged with two counts of wilfully setting fire to bushland and one count
of criminal damage by fire.

The man was refused bail and will appear in the Midland Magistrates Court today.
